You go viral, then what?
I know many of you think that “if you could just go viral” your business would change. But what would you do if you did?
Unfortunately, going viral doesn’t necessarily mean your bank account is going to increase or those new followers are going to stick around.
You need to be very strategic and act relatively quickly in order to capitalize on your new-found fame.
Invite those who reacted to your post to Like Your Page
When people react to your post you can invite them to Like your page. This is a step a lot of people overlook or simply don't know about. It’s a simple way to ask them to Like your page without paying for an ad.
Evaluate why that post went viral
So why did that post go viral? You want to assess the effectiveness of your text, images, audio, and video. Was it educational? Entertaining? Humourous? Appealed to people’s narcissistic side – made them look smart for sharing? Was it something fun? A quiz?
Some content works better than others but you will want to analyze this viral piece to see if you can duplicate it. If you can then you may have found the formula to grow your business quicker.
Engage with the people commenting on your post
Start talking to the people leaving comments. You want to been seen as the hostess with the mostest. Engagement will allow the post to reach even more people. And it allows those potential new followers to see that you are a real person.
Keep in mind the average person on Facebook has 338 friends. If you can get them to share your content you are potentially reaching their friends, then their friend's friends and so on. Engaging sharable content is the magic formula on social media.
Promote an Opt-In Offer
Share your opt-in so those new followers can be added to your email list. You own your email list and it gives you a way to contact those people directly. You can then create an email marketing strategy to continue your relationship if you don't already have one.
The other advantage of getting people on your email list is you can export it and create a Custom Audience inside Facebook Ads Manager. This can allow you to reduce your ad spend and find people who look similar to those people so you can grow your audience even further. >>Book an Ads Training Session<<
Make a Sales Offer
This is the time to promote an offer! You have a limited amount of time to keep this new influx of people engaged in your content so you need to take advantage of it. This is the step that will allow you to truly optimize the fact you went viral. It’s not normally sales posts that go viral so you will want to start promoting your product or service in your feed, DON’T SPAM THEM.
I would absolutely create an ad and promote it to people who have engaged with your page within the last 30 days. >>Book an Ads Training Session<<
I went viral for the wrong reason and feel attacked.
If you went viral because you said or did something stupid on social media then my best advice for you is to own up to it. Make a sincere apology and don't avoid it. People will troll you on other platforms too so make sure you share your apology on those too. Deleting your profile or any of that foolishness only makes you look more like a fool.
Remember that old motto "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all". Use it, remember it, say it over-and-over again in your mind. It really is easy to be kind. Everyone is doing the absolutely best that they can so don't be a jerk. Keep your thoughts and opinions to yourself.
